Abstract

We present further line lists of ammonia (NH3) at high temperatures obtained by recording Fourier transform infrared emission spectra. Calibrated line lists are presented for 12 temperatures (300-1400 °C in 100 °C intervals) and each line list covers the 1650-4000 cm−1 range, which includes the ν1 and ν3 fundamental modes (3μm) plus a number of combination, overtone and hot bands. Using our NH3 spectra, we have estimated empirical lower state energies (ELow in cm−1) and our values have been incorporated into the line lists along with line positions (ν˜ in cm−1) and calibrated line intensities (S′ in cm/molecule). We expect our hot NH3 line lists to find direct application in the modeling of planetary atmospheres and brown dwarfs.

► High temperature line lists of ammonia at have been recorded in the infrared. ► Spectra were recorded using a tube furnace and FT-IR spectrometer. ► Line lists contain fundamental (ν1,ν3), overtone, combination and hot NH3 bands. ► Empirical lower state energies for a large number of lines have been estimated. NH3 HITRAN lines have been included in the final temperature specific line lists.
