Abstract

In this work we derive the dipolar auto-correlation function (DACF) and subsequently the intensity of Ly-α radiation in the plasmas in presence of an electric field adiabatically oscillating. We show that in addition to the Stark splitting, new line splitting is observed when the adiabatic approximation (AA) is used. This corresponds to the apparition of satellites similar to those of Blochinzew's in the line shapes. The validity of this approximation is discussed with respect to different plasma conditions as the density and the oscillating frequency of the electric field.

► Using the adiabatic approximation we derive the Dipolar Auto-Correlation Function. ► We have exhibited the Berry's phase for the first time in (DACF). ► The result is that a new line splitting similar to the Zeeman one is observed. ► We analyzed the effect of the Berry's phase on the line shape in plasmas.
