Abstract
Inhibition effect of imidazoline (IM) inhibitor on the crevice corrosion of N80 carbon steel in CO2-saturated NaCl solution containing acetic acid (HAc) was investigated by weight loss and electrochemical measurements, and surface analysis. The inhibition effect in the solution with 3Â g/L HAc, where IM as a mixed-type inhibitor with predominant cathodic effectiveness, is more prominent than that in the solution with 1Â g/L HAc, where IM as a mixed-type inhibitor with predominant anodic effectiveness. IM can inhibit the crevice corrosion of the steel when added at the beginning, but not when added after corrosion for a period of time.
