Abstract
A wax coating was prepared using waste materials (isolated microcrystalline waxes) to protect petroleum pipelines against corrosion in 0.6Â M NaCl solution. The corrosion protection performance of isolated microcrystalline wax coating was detected by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and open circuit potential (OCP) measurements. EIS spectra confirmed that the corrosion of carbon steel in 0.6Â M NaCl solution significantly inhibited by isolated microcrystalline wax coating. Positive shift of OCP also indicated that the microcrystalline wax acts as a protective coating. The effect of temperature on the performance of isolated microcrystalline wax coating was investigated and discussed.
