Abstract
(a) A bright-field TEM micrograph shows high density of basal stacking faults inside a {101¯1} deformation twin in a deformed AZ31 magnesium alloy. The electron beam is nearly parallel to the ã12¯10ã zone axis. (b) Selected area electron diffraction pattern taken from the circled region 1 in (a), indicating the {101¯1} twin orientation relationship. (c) A diffraction pattern for the circled region 2 in (a). The presence of streaking indicated by the white arrow indicates that the stacking faults are on the (0002) basal plane.350
