Abstract
B2 matrices of the dendrite (DR) and interdendrite (ID) areas in the studied AlCoCrFeNi alloy contain domains with different order. In the ID region, short range order of domains, manifested by diffuse scattering in the electron diffraction patterns, was observed. Domains in the DR region are arranged periodically (with modulation vector of 1/5[110]). Strain assessment in the particles/matrix interface hints arrested growth of the particles in the DR area. To our understanding, type of order of the domains and strain, associated with them, are dominant factors influencing the microstructures of the DR and ID areas.
