Abstract
Introduction of ZnO to a Mg-1.8Y base alloy led to the evolution of a uniformly distributed nano-length scale β1Ⲡphase (rod and blocky) and Y2O3 nanoparticles. These thermodynamically favored phases led to the significantly enhanced mechanical properties (tensile yield strength).229
