Abstract
The use of renewable resources is experiencing a great boom in industrialized countries and even in some underdeveloped countries. Algeria has provided a great effort for rural electrification and Saharan. Indeed, the rate of national electrification in 2001 was equal to 96%. Despite this high rate, there are still scattered households with electrification, by extension of the conventional network, is very expensive. The hybrid power generation system (wind - PV), fully autonomous, is a solution for this problem. We present in this work, first, a method to determine the size and optimization of a photovoltaic-wind hybrid system for medium power. Secondly, determine the optimum techno economic configuration two different methods: the annual monthly average and that of the worst month. For that, load is fixed a 2kWh/d, the worst month of the method gives a higher cost of the system compared to that of the average monthly values per year. The results also show that the use of a wind system as a backup system with a photovoltaic system generates an increase in the price of the hybrid system to the site of Tlemcen.
