Abstract
China released its Corporate Average Fuel Consumption (CAFC) regulation to improve fuel economy of passenger vehicles and reduce energy and environment-related risks in China. Compliance requirements and competition forces OEMs to strike a good balance between a vehicle's fuel economy, power and space which are closely interrelated. In this article, PSFI approach will be used to analyze the technical progress of domestic passenger vehicle automakers in the past 7 years from different car lines, and ERFC index will be used to analyze the balance strategies used by automakers from different origins. The study shows that in the last 7 years, domestic passenger vehicle companies saw technical progress much faster than other segments, but the progress was more about power and space improvement, rather than fuel economy.
