Abstract
Thermal and energy saving performance of a new designed shell-and-tube condenser equipped with a liquid separator is experimentally studied. The aim is to timely discharge the condensate, delay the formation of condensed liquid film, and enhance the heat transfer performance. The tested results of the new designed condenser are compared with the traditional one. The experimental results indicate that the heat transfer efficiency of the new proposed condenser can be improved by about 30%. The new structure of the condenser can be used to improve the energy efficiency of the overall thermal system, and achieve the aim of energy saving.
