Abstract
BiOCl with a wide band gap energy only harvests the UV light. It performs good photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation due to its unique and outstanding physical and chemical properties. The band gap energy of CsxWO3 is around 2.5 eV, which exhibits a strong absorption in wide range of 200-2500 nm. We find that CsxWO3/BiOCl composite with a mass ratio 1/3 has a better photocatalytic activity than the single BiOCl and CsxWO3 by degrading RhB and MB under the visible light irradiation. It attributes that coupling narrow band gap CsxWO3 with wide band gap BiOCl semiconductor could lead to an efficient electron-hole pairs separation.
