Abstract
Lithium Malonatoborate Additives in conventional carbonate electrolyte provide effective passivation layers to suppress co-intercalation of solvents into graphite anode and prevent severe electrolyte oxidation at high voltage LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 cathode during the first cycle. The presence of additives improves cell efficiencies and long cycling stability of LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 based lithium metal and lithium ion batteries. SEM and XPS survey further reveal the existance of passivation layers from the additives. In addition, these additives can protect current collector from corrosion.214
