Abstract
Phase relations in BaO-In2O3-B2O3 system were experimentally and theoretically studied. Firstly, phase equilibria in B2O3-rich corner at 1298 and 1323 K were measured with EPMA and XRD. Then, thermodynamic assessment was performed based on the measured phase relations in this work and from literatures by CALPHAD method using Thermo-Calc software. The intermediate phases were treated as stoichiometric compounds, and the liquid phase was described by the two-sublattice ionic liquid model (In3+, Ba2+)p(O2−, BO33−, B4O72−, B3O4.5)Q. A set of self-consistent thermodynamic parameters was obtained and the calculated phase diagrams and thermochemical properties conform well to the measurements.
