Abstract
Ba3SrTa2O9 perovskite was synthesised by solid state reaction method using ball milling followed by calcination. The effect of milling time on structural, morphological and conductivity properties are discussed in this article. Thermogravimetric analysis revealed that lower particle size of the precursors resulted due to longer milling time leads to lower stabilization temperature. XRD data indicated no significant change in crystal structure (hexagonal) for samples calcined after different milling times. TEM images exposed single crystalline flaky morphology of the particles. SEM images showed disintegration of the nano-crystallite due to longer milling time. Electrical impedance analysis revealed that the Ba3SrTa2O9 sample obtained after 5 h milling exhibited slightly better total conductivity when compared to those of samples obtained after 20 h milling.
