Abstract
The focus of this work is on exploring the effect of cooling rate on the microstructure and hardness of the Mg80Ni10Gd10 alloy which is known for its potential hydrogen storage capability. A series of chart is displayed to compare the mechanical and transport properties with commercial Mg-based alloys, Mg-based metallic glasses and low density high entropy alloys. We outline the interest of this alloy composition for the development of new light metal high entropy alloy with multifunctionality.
