Abstract
The age-hardening response of AZ80 alloy can greatly enhanced by pre-twinning deformation. A remarkably high strength is obtained for wrought magnesium alloy AZ80 by combined processes of twinning deformation and aging treatment. This is mainly attributed that twinning deformation promotes the continuous precipitation and inhibits the discontinuous precipitation. Moreover, promoting continuous precipitation is of great benefit to the improvement in ductility and yield asymmetry. Finally, the relevant mechanisms are investigated and discussed.
