Abstract
The main contribution of this paper is a new theory of disorder strengthening, specifically the strengthening of an ordered L12 phase by disordered fcc precipitates. This figure illustrates one of the excellent fits of the new theory to a set of computer-generated data on the strengthening of an inverse Ni-base alloy. The data shown are those of Pretorius and Nembach, “Strengthening of an L12-ordered γâ²-intermetallic by disordered gamma-particles. Part I: Computer simulations, Acta Mater. 49 (2001) 1971-1980.” The solid curves are averages of results from 2 equations of the theory, calculated with no adjustable parameters.128
