Abstract
Phase pure and high quality CuS nanocrystals were synthesized by a simple aqueous precipitation technique at room temperature with NaOH as the pH modifier and CTAB as the surfactant. In order to understand the effect of Mn2+ doping on the optical, electrical and magnetic properties of CuS nanocrystals, Mn2+ was doped in different concentrations, viz. 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 wt%.PXRD, SEM, and EDAX spectral analyses were carried out to characterize the synthesized pure and Mn2+ doped nanocrystals chemically and structurally. UV-Vis-NIR, PL, and EPR spectral, electrical (both DC and AC) and VSM measurements were carried out to characterize the synthesized nanocrystal soptically, electrically and magnetically. The results obtained in the present study indicate phase purity of the samples (pure and Mn2+ doped CuS nanocrystals) prepared with significant changes in crystallite size, morphology, optical transmittance, band gap energy, electrical parameters, and magnetic parameters and without any significant change in the crystal structure due to Mn2+ doping.
