Abstract
The effect of deformation induced texture on the magnetic performance was studied for Sm0.6Pr0.4Co5 magnet and (SmCo5)0.6(PrCo5)0.4 composite magnet. The magnets were prepared by hot pressing and hot deformation techniques. During the hot deformation process, a preferential alignment of c-axes of the grains was induced along the pressing direction. The grain size and phase distribution as well as the grain orientation were analysed by the electron backscattered diffraction technique (EBSD). It was found that the Sm0.6Pr0.4Co5 magnet exhibits a stronger {0001} orientation texture and better magnetic properties than the (SmCo5)0.6(PrCo5)0.4 composite magnet.
