Abstract
In order to fabricate the polymer composites with enhanced anti-aging and mechanical properties in plastic applications, TiO2-coated kaolinite powders prepared by a facile sol-hydrothermal method were used to consolidate polyamide 1010 forming the polyamide 1010/TiO2-coated kaolinite composite. TiO2 working as an anti-aging additive in TiO2-coated kaolinite powders was confirmed to be a rutile phase by the joint research of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Ultraviolet-visible spectra (UV-vis) and Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) measurements. Meanwhile, the morphology and thermal stability of TiO2-coated kaolinite were measured by the Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and TG-DSC. Importantly, ultraviolet aging resistance, mechanical properties, long-term stability and service life of the polymer composites were investigated compared with pristine polyamide 1010/kaolinite and pure polymer. The comparative results indicated that the kaolinite can improve the mechanical properties and TiO2 can enhance ultraviolet aging resistance performance of polyamide 1010, resulting in the improvement of the long-term stability and service life of the polymer composites.
