Abstract
A novel casting TiAl alloy with fine homogeneous microstructure and excellent performances is obtained assisted by the ultrasonic melt treatment. The coarse columnar crystal is modified into non-dendritic structure and the large grain is refined from 3098 μm to 88 μm; the micro-segregation, micro-porosities and precipitates are eliminated as well. After ultrasonic melt treatment for 90 s, the highest compressive strength is improved up to 1705 MPa, about 12% higher than the “quasi-oriented” TiAl alloy.
