Abstract
Morph-genetic Al2O3 porous ceramic with a fabric structure was obtained by textile technique and template method using ramie fibres and an inorganic polymer solution. The microstructure and physical characteristics were observed and tested. The results show that this ceramic retains the fabric structure and is a duplex microstructure composed of morph-genetic fibres ceramic and network ceramic. The final ceramic exhibits a hierarchical interconnected pore involving the fabric voids, the hollow tubular pores, and the particles pores; has an ultrahigh porosity of 76.5-78.8% and a low thermal conductivity of 0.07-0.087 W·mâ1 Kâ1. The bio-template structure and the aluminium content yield changes in the shrinkage, morphology, particle size and pore-size distribution.
