Abstract
Through simple surface post-modification of 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (4-MBA), the photocatalytic hydrogen production performance of solvothermally synthesized MoS2 was significantly enhanced. The H2-evolving rate of 1.5 wt% 4-MBA@MoS2 sensitized by Eosin Y was up to 1886.3 μmol·h−1 under visible light irradiation, about 2.1 times higher than that of bare MoS2 (876 μmol·h−1). We owe it to the honeycombed microstructure, more active sites, better dispersity and more efficient photoelectrons transfer from EY to MoS2 originating from the 4-MBA surface modification.
