Abstract
Through simple surface post-modification of 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (4-MBA), the photocatalytic hydrogen production performance of solvothermally synthesized MoS2 was significantly enhanced. The H2-evolving rate of 1.5 wt% 4-MBA@MoS2 sensitized by Eosin Y was up to 1886.3 μmol·hâ1 under visible light irradiation, about 2.1 times higher than that of bare MoS2 (876 μmol·hâ1). We owe it to the honeycombed microstructure, more active sites, better dispersity and more efficient photoelectrons transfer from EY to MoS2 originating from the 4-MBA surface modification.
