Abstract
Thin oxinitride films of Zn-Sn-O-N and Si-Al-O-N were deposited on glass and on low emissivity thin film-on-glass coatings by reactive magnetron sputtering at various nitrogen-to-oxygen ratios. Oleophobic properties were improved by the films deposited, and optimal composition of oxygen to nitrogen was found to be equal O2:N2 ≈ 2:1. Correlation between surface morphology and oleophobic properties was analyzed. Mechanical wet sheening, Taber abrasion tests, and sclerometry scratching demonstrated good mechanical wear resistivity of the coatings. Surface stratometry before and after acid bath diving demonstrated good chemical resistivity. Chemical and mechanical resistivity of the oleophobic films was found to be stable after storage at various temperatures, air humidity, and time.
