Abstract
Incinerators have been widely used to burn the medical waste at very high temperature. The temperature combined with the aggressive species damage the components used in the construction. In the present study Cr3C2-NiCr coated superalloys Superni 718, Superni 600 and Superco 605 have been tested under actual medical waste incinerator environment. The coated specimens were exposed for 1000Â h in the secondary chamber of the incinerator. Results showed that coated Superni 718 and Superni 600 performed satisfactorily under the corrosive atmosphere whereas coating was partially delaminated from Superco 605.
