Abstract
Cr-W-N coatings were prepared through reactive direct current magnetron cosputtering at nitrogen flow ratios of 0.1-0.5. The feasibility of the surveyed Cr-W-N coatings as protective coatings on glass molding dies was evaluated by studying their mechanical properties, tribological characteristics, surface roughness, and oxidation resistance. Crystalline Cr-W-N coatings with a (200) orientation, namely Cr29W40N31, Cr24W46N30, and Cr16W57N27, were found to be suitable candidates for protective coatings.
