Abstract
Monolayer Ba0.25Sr0.75Al2Si2O8 (BSAS), BSASÂ +Â 10Â wt.% Si and BSASÂ +Â 10Â wt.% SiC coatings were deposited on the C/SiC composites by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) to improve oxidation resistance of the substrate. Microstructure, bond stability and oxidation protection of the monolayer coatings were investigated. The results showed that the monolayer coating effectively improved oxidation resistance of C/SiC composites. The microstructures and mechanical properties of the coating directly affected the bond stability and oxidation resistance of the specimen with protective coatings, while the BSASÂ +Â 10Â wt.% SiC coating exhibited the highest bond stability and the best oxidation resistance among these protective coatings.
