Abstract
In the present study the fabrication process of the Fe-based metallic glassy coating by plasma spraying is optimized. The properties of the coating are related to the spraying power. The better density, hardness and corrosion resistance are obtained for the coating with higher sprayed power. However, when the spraying power higher than 40Â kW, the crystal phases are precipitated. The optimized spraying power is 35Â kW. The tribological results indicate that the wear failure mechanism of the coating is shear spalling at low applied loading and small region spalling with scars at high applied loading.
