Abstract
The problem of low emission in many cities around the world has been significantly reduced. In Poland, however, it seems to be difficult to solve. The authorities at local and national level are often unwilling to take unpopular decisions that could significantly reduce harmful emissions. These decisions are unfortunately related to incurring higher costs for the society. A low emission arising mainly during heating and resulting from road transport contributes in the year to the untimely death of 48 thousand of people in Poland. This article aims to identify the main sources of low emission in the city of Zielona Góra and identify different kinds of solutions that can be helpful in ensuring better air quality in the city. The article indicates the possibility of limiting low emission from boilers in private houses, which are often inefficient in energy and use low-quality coal. The burning of solid fuels to heat the rooms contributes to the emissions of many harmful substances to human health and the environment. Moreover, the publication pointed out the actions to be taken by the city of Zielona Góra in order to reduce low emission and proposed solutions, which according to the author can strengthen these activities.
