Abstract
In this work, Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL) was extracted and decarboxylated using a silver-based catalyst, which was recoverable after the reaction. Solvent extraction method was adopted to extract CNSL from the shell and methanol was used as solvent. Further, blends with conventional diesel (B05 and B10) were prepared and their properties such as density, flash point, kinematic viscosity, cloud point, pour point and cetane number were tested. They were found to be comparable to that of conventional diesel.
