Abstract
The phenomenon of stochastic resonance (SR) in an asymmetric bistable system subject to multiplicative and additive trichotomous noises is investigated by using the output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The residence time in the left well extends while that in the right well reduces with an increase of the asymmetric parameter. Then the influences of the asymmetric parameter, the signal amplitude, the signal frequency, the amplitude and stationary probability of the additive noise on SNR are discussed. It is noteworthy that SR and stochastic anti-resonance exist in this system. It is shown that the asymmetry of the potential can weaken the phenomenon of SR.
