Abstract
In order to calculate the thermal effects on solid-state laser crystals such as the thermal stress, stress birefringence and thermal lensing, the temperature distribution is necessary and important. In this paper, we introduce an analytical model for the temperature distribution of a side diode-pumped laser slab, single sided and double sided, cooled by water sealing technology on four faces of the slab. We also consider the reflection pump beam from the opposite face of the pump face for a single sided pump configuration. Our analytical model is validated by a numerical solution based on the finite element method (FEM). The results show that our model has a very good agreement with the numerical solution.
