Abstract
Low-cost, very flexible and powerful new method and methodology for designing and optimizing magnetic separators and classifiers (and for performing proofs-of-concept) was developed and is presented in this work. Application to case-studies proved their applicability and feasibility. Many advantages are associated with this method and methodology namely their low-cost, possibility to use a simplified version of the device and of the feed stream, very high flexibility, easiness for experiences repetition, sharp control of the apparatus /particle characteristics and reliable extrapolations, leading to very good optimization and determination of the influence of the main parameters (e.g. particle size, magnetic-field magnitude and configuration, efficiency of the separator/classifier, exits positions, etc).480
