Abstract
In this work, strontium hexaferrite powders, SrFe12O19, synthesized by the Pechini and combustion methods have been structurally and magnetically characterized. Based on structural characterization from X-ray diffraction (XRD) data analysis, it was confirmed that pure material was obtained by both methods when the reaction conditions (calcination temperature, precursors, pHe) were kept constant. However, the morphological characterization based on scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed differences in the samples obtained by each method. Similarly, magnetic characterization showed discrepancies not only in the magnetic coercivity (Hc), but also in the remanent magnetization (Mr) and saturation magnetization (Ms).
