Abstract
The Bertotti's statistical model was used to modify the Steinmetz law, for the hysteresis energy loss Wdc of SMCs magnetized in dc magnetic field, to the model for total energy losses Wt when an ac magnetic field is applied. In this case the total energy losses Wt consist of hysteresis losses to which the dynamic energy losses Wd, consisting of interparticle eddy current losses Wcinter, intraparticle eddy current losses Wcintraand excess losses We, were added. The validity of this model was experimentally proven for the investigated Fe-based SMCs at maximum inductions Bm ranging from 0.1 to 1.2Â T.
