Abstract
The pure Pb5(VO4)3OH and La doped Pb5(VO4)3OH rod bunches have been synthesized by a simple Composite-Hydroxide-Mediated (CHM) method. The characterization of the doped samples with XRD, EDS and XPS indicated that La3+ ions were incorporated into the Pb5(VO4)3OH lattices. The crystallite size of Pb5(VO4)3OH:La3+ rod bunches was smaller than that of pure Pb5(VO4)3OH rod bunches. The possible formation mechanism of rod bunches has been discussed. The photoluminescence property of the Pb5(VO4)3OH:La3+ crystals was investigated at room temperature. The crystals exhibited a strong blue luminescence under UV light (353 nm) excitation at room-temperature. The mechanism of excellent luminescence of Pb5(VO4)3OH:La3+ has been deeply discussed.
