Abstract
Jens Lothe, Professor Emeritus of Physics at the University of Oslo, passed away at age 84 on September 26, 2016 after a brief illness. This article presents a survey of his life, work, and influence from the standpoints of four authors who had the great fortune to be associated with him both professionally and personally. A list of his publications is included.
