Abstract
Increased retinal PARP-1 in diabetes increases its complex formation with the transcription factors at the MMP-9 promoter, subsequently increasing MMP-9 expression. Inhibition of PARP-1, inhibits, diabetes-induced increase in MMP-9, mitochondrial damage and capillary cell apoptosis.68
