Abstract

•39 year old patient presented with subacute-onset ocular pain and visual impairment•Fundoscopy and MRI revealed longitudinally extensive optic neuritis with papillitis.•Blood tests disclosed acute CMV infection and positive anti-MOG antibodies.•CMV infection could serve as a trigger for MOG autoimmunity.
