Abstract
Osteopaths are tormented by the question: What is the physiological order in the development of diseases and in the process of recovery? Clear guidelines regarding the chronological order in clinical practice and research would support osteopaths in their daily efforts. Therefore this article discusses temporal and hierarchical aspects in the development of the therapeutic process, in pathophysiology and in research. It emphasizes the emergence of security and stability - in the patient and in the therapist - if physiological and procedural hierarchies are experienced and communicated.
