Abstract
- Considerable efforts are deployed by hospital personnel to educate patients.
- Patients remain misinformed about risks and benefits of adequate pain management.
- One-on-one education & printed material were not effective in changing patient beliefs.
- A proactive intervention by the acute pain service nurse and provision of web access to educational materials is suggested.
