Abstract
Microvascular complications related to diabetes can have a devastating impact on quality of life. This article discusses nephropathy, retinopathy, and neuropathy. Methods for diagnosis, treatment, and referral as per the current guidelines are detailed. Nurse practitioners must be armed with this knowledge in order to effectively assist their patients with diabetes as these complications are often preventable due to advances in diagnosis and treatment.
