Abstract
To ensure the monitoring of exposed workers, occupational physicians have to resort to biological references values in order to compare their exposure to a given reference. These values could be produced from human biomonitoring surveys conducted in general population. Reference value of exposure (RVE) informs on the levels of chemical in the general population. They have no direct relationship to heath effect. To use these values, occupational physicians have to be aware on the characteristics of the population from these data are from. Santé publique France is engaged in human biomonitoring for almost ten years. Some RVE have already been produced. The progression of the National biomonitoring program should lead to the production of many more RVE in order to actualize and complete the already published results. European surveys may lead to the production of RVE including all European population.
