Abstract
There are limited articles in literature describing the intricate imaging anatomy and female perineum disease. Most of publications describe the importance of the supporting structures of perineum related to pelvic organ prolapse. However, many disorders can affect the female perineum, such as inflammation, tumours, malformations or cystic lesions. The diagnosis of female disease in this anatomic region is challenging for clinicians because patients present nonspecific signs such as pelvic pain, dyspareunia, dysuria, urethral or vaginal bleeding. In this article, we describe the role of ultrasound, cystourethrography and MR imaging to identify female perineum and its disorders.
