Abstract
SFAR/SFC guidelines are well-adapted for preoperative cardiac risk stratification in non-cardiac surgery. The simplified algorithm includes on the one hand the patient-related risk by means of the Revised Cardiac Risk Index and the estimation of both stability of chronic heart disease and functional myocardial capacity, and on the other hand the type of surgery-related risk. Most cardiac patients can undergo surgery without any additional functional tests pending optimization of preoperative chronic cardiac medication.
