Abstract
There is limited experience in palliative care for people with intellectual disabilities. The following 3 aspects stand out: the complexity of the assessment and communication, the difficulty in establishing the criteria for inclusion in palliative care programs, and in the decision making process. Specific training in palliative care and intellectual disabilities, improvement in communication skills, and promotion of integrated care are essential.
