Abstract
Malignant mesothelioma is an aggressive tumor of serosal surfaces and with an increasing worldwide that is probably related to the widespread population exposure to asbestos, the main risk factor that has been associated to it. Current treatment includes surgery (pleurectomy or extrapleural pneumonectomy) followed by radiotherapy, although recently has been added the use of chemotherapy. Palliative care can help improve the quality of life and achieve good symptom control for years after diagnosis. A representative case of mesothelioma is presented.
