Abstract
Cytology can accurately identify neuroendocrine differentiation in the majority of cases; nevertheless, there are potential serious pitfalls. Misclassification of a neuroendocrine tumor as adenocarcinoma or vice versa can have significant clinical impact. Clinical and radiological correlation is essential.
