Abstract
A chronic abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) animal model is described which possesses more characteristics of human AAA compared with other AAA models. Because this model demonstrates all stages of aneurysm formation, it is a useful tool for investigational aneurysm studies, especially for end-stage AAA with thrombus formation and spontaneous rupture. The model can also be performed in genetically modified strains to explore the sophisticated mechanisms of aneurysm formation.
