Abstract
â¢We assessed thiol-disulphide balance with a new colorimetric method recently developed by Erel & NeÅelioÄlu.â¢Native thiol (SH), total thiol (SS + SH) and disulphide (SS) levels were found to be significantly lower in severe pre-eclamptics when compared to mild pre-eclamptics and the control group (p < 0.01).â¢Native thiol (SH), total thiol (SS + SH) and disulphide (SS) levels may have been found to be significantly low as there are low serum albumin and total protein in pre-eclamptic patients, especially in severe pre-eclampsia cases.
